The Information and Public Relations Study Program of the Vocational School at Diponegoro University Strengthens Students’ Digital Archival Literacy through BI Mengajar

Bank Indonesia, through its BI Mengajar program, once again demonstrated its commitment to human resource development through collaboration with Diponegoro University, particularly the Information and Public Relations Study Program of the Vocational School. Bank Indonesia’s archives support policymaking, maintain accountability, and preserve the nation’s collective memory.

The Information and Public Relations Study Program, Department of Information and Culture, Vocational School of Diponegoro University (UNDIP), together with the Department of General Services, Assets, and Facilities (DLAF) of Bank Indonesia, had the opportunity to hold the inaugural event on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The event took place on the 4th floor of Building A, Vocational School of UNDIP.

This activity was part of the broader BI Mengajar Road to Campus program organized by Bank Indonesia. The program is an educational and literacy initiative conducted face-to-face at several universities in Indonesia with students specializing in archival studies, including Gadjah Mada University, University of Indonesia, Diponegoro University, Padjadjaran University, Brawijaya University, Airlangga University, and online sessions for Universitas Terbuka.

Arifa Rachma Febriyani, Head of the Information and Public Relations Study Program.

A total of 115 students attended the event. The Head of the Information and Public Relations Study Program, Arifa Rachma Febriyani, delivered a welcoming speech and presented a token of appreciation to the leaders of Bank Indonesia. Lecturers from the Information and Public Relations Study Program who also attended the event included Endang Fatmawati and Ni Putu Eka Budi Pradnya Wulandari Dewi.

Endang, who had previously served as a speaker in a Focus Group Discussion at Bank Indonesia, affirmed that through this activity, students had the opportunity to learn firsthand how archival management at Bank Indonesia has transformed into a digital and integrated system. It is therefore unsurprising that activities like this received enthusiastic responses from students, as they introduced new insights into digital-based banking archival management. The speakers invited to the event came directly from Bank Indonesia, encouraging students to actively engage in discussions during the Q&A session.

The event featured a welcoming address by Suti Masniari Nasution. Also present as speakers were Andi Anjum and Tri Arso Purnomo. In their presentations, the speakers explained that archival management plays a crucial role in supporting Bank Indonesia’s duties as the central bank.

In this context, the central bank is a financial institution with a strategic role in the national economy, functioning as a circulation bank, government cashier, banker’s bank, monetary authority, financial system authority, and payment system authority. Meanwhile, archives serve as the foundation for maintaining accountability, transparency, and as a source of information for policymaking.

Participants also gained insights into the development of archival management at Bank Indonesia, from conventional systems to a more integrated and efficient digital transformation. This transformation has been supported by various modern archival management tools introduced during the event. At the end of the session, participants also received information regarding Bank Indonesia’s internship program presented by the BI Human Resources Department, represented by Hairul Ilhammy and Retno Pusaka Wangi.

The program offers students the opportunity to gain direct work experience, develop professional competencies, and understand workplace practices within Bank Indonesia. The internship program is organized as part of the institution’s social responsibility by providing students with opportunities for practical work experience.

During the event, information was also shared about internship opportunities at Bank Indonesia, as well as competitions that students could participate in, including scientific writing, book reviews, photography, and archival campaign video contests. For the participants—Applied Bachelor students from the Information and Public Relations Study Program, cohorts of 2023, 2024, and 2025—this opportunity became an important experience as future professional archivists who will contribute to advancing archival practices in Indonesia.

As part of the 2026 Bank Indonesia Archival Festival (FESARBI), the activity received strong enthusiasm from students of the Information and Public Relations Study Program at UNDIP. The event was successfully conducted without any obstacles. Hopefully, it will bring benefits and blessings to all members of the academic community.
