Semarang – Nabilah Salmawati Mulyaningrum, an alumna of the Information and Public Relations (INHUM) Study Program at the Vocational School of Universitas Diponegoro, has built an academic and professional journey that began with practice-based learning during her university years and has now led her to a career in public relations within the healthcare sector.
During her studies, she not only gained theoretical knowledge in public relations but also hands-on practical experience in the field. Various practice-based courses accustomed her to real-world situations, ranging from managing communication media, interacting with stakeholders and communities, to engaging with government institutions.
Lecturers also frequently provided case studies relevant to the professional world. This helped her develop critical thinking skills in decision-making as well as effective communication within public relations and marketing contexts.
Throughout her university life, she was committed to giving her best as a form of responsibility to herself, her family, and her university. She consistently completed her assignments with dedication, maintained discipline in her studies, and actively participated in various communities and organizations to further develop herself.
Her strong interest in the healthcare field became one of her main focuses during her studies. This led her to an internship opportunity at Yayasan Mentari Sehat Indonesia, an organization focused on tuberculosis (TB) prevention in Indonesia. She also actively participated in mental health communities and chose healthcare communication as the topic of her final project, particularly focusing on the management of a TB education event in a public housing area in Semarang. She believes that communication and healthcare are closely interconnected, as effective communication plays a key role in raising awareness and driving behavioral change toward a better quality of life.
This interest eventually led her to a career opportunity in the Public Relations department at QIM Hospital. The recruitment process she went through was not immediate, but consisted of five stages of tests that assessed her communication skills, understanding of public relations, and readiness to face the dynamics of the healthcare industry. Each stage became a valuable learning experience in her career journey.
Nabilah Salmawati Mulyaningrum successfully completed her studies on time with satisfactory academic achievement. Notably, she secured a job before graduation, during the period when she was preparing her graduation documents. This achievement became a moment of great gratitude for her.
Her journey serves as evidence that the combination of practice-based academic learning, organizational experience, and interest in healthcare issues can open up relevant and impactful career opportunities. She expressed her gratitude to Universitas Diponegoro, her lecturers, and the academic environment, which played an important role in shaping her over four years of study.
